Special gifts for Mother's DayEveryone has a mother, and the job of being a mother is a tough one. Through the years, someone decided to reward moms with their own day. Did you ever wonder how the tradition began? Read the story of Mother's Day at holidays.net/mother/story.htm. There are countless ways to reward the many Mom's in your life, and even more creative new ideas can be found using your computer. Don't just give her a photo album. Fill it with copies of your home photos you've just scanned and printed on your home computer. Type up captions for each one, and edit a few just for laughs. Have you thought of buying her a shirt? Instead, make her one! You can buy t-shirt transfer paper for your inkjet printer. Design something nice, add a family photo, and presto! For something quick and appreciated, print out a picture of the family and iron it onto a white mousemat. Rather than buying her a nice pillow, make a customized one! With your computer, you can print an iron-on transfer, press it onto a piece of cloth, and sew it into the middle of the pillow. Surround it with lace, write "I love you" or her name on it with fabric marking pens, and you'll have something very special. You could even g et all the kids and/or grandkids to sign it. If relatives live too far away, have them E-mail a virtual signature or special quote you can print on it.Another terrific idea is a family scrapbook. Have each member of the family type or write up something very special about Mom. Print them all out and place in a scrapbook with the related item or photo next to the article. This treasure will last several lifetimes. Don't just give her roses. Plant her an entire rose garden! Go to homeadvisor.msn.com/Garden/PlantingaRose0.asp for complete instructions on how to do it right, then visit your local landscaping shop for the goods.More great crafts you can make for mom including a recipe card holder from Popsicle sticks, a collage placemat, or a poem with handprint and picture that any mom would love!
