Free pet advice and samples on the web

Pets are a big part of our lives. They can help in some small way to fill the vacancy left by loved ones who've passed on, and grown-up children who are no longer living at home. Here are some terrific websites about pets, and some free samples only for you netsurfers.

mypetstop.com Allows you to keep track of all important pet information in one place. Store Spot's medical records, vet appointments, or make an online scrapbook. How about a virtual postcard of your pet to send to all your friends?

pets.msn.com is the pet section of Microsoft Network's website. Ever wonder how the goldfish got its color? Did you know, "Nearly all hamsters in the U.S. are descended from one mother and her 12 offspring"? If you're like me, your cat does not like to take his medicine. Need some help getting those pills down? There's a lot of information on this site.

petsville.com is drawn out on your screen like a village. Complete with library, shopping mall, and their very own adoption center with listings of pets all over the world who need homes.

villagepetcare.com has a small but informative section of articles on holistic health care, paw care, lyme disease (which can happen in our area), and why your dog barks.

purina.com now has the first radio network dedicated to pet owners. Listen to pet tips, news, and animal related information.

catcaresociety.org is a great site, especially if you've just adopted your cat. It deals with topics such as litterbox problems, nutrition, destructive scratching, and what to do should you find a homeless cat. You'll find practical advice, submitted by various veterinarians and helpers.

xmission.com/~emailbox/catstuff.htm has over 3,000 cat-related graphics you can borrow for your own website. The games section has cat-related coloring books and word search puzzles. Not enough? Check out the software area for links to a ton of feline screensavers, fonts, and desktop themes.

The virtual library has trivia, folklore, reference information, stories.. the list goes on. Bookmark this one, you'll want to visit it again.

i-love-cats.com calls itself the "directory of cat websites". Everything is categorized and alphabetized.  If you can't find it here, it doesn't exist.

dogchow.com is having a contest, and you could win a year's supply of Purina Dog Chow! Submit your essay now on your dog's most incredible feat. If you're not a writer, you can vote on the finalists if you'd prefer.

And, as promised, here are some links to real, honest-to-goodness freebies!
